1. What's your name and where are you from?
My name is D. Marie and I am originally from North Carolina. 2. What is your hair type? I have a mixture of hair types. My hair is 4a, 4b,and 4c in some areas.
3. When did you go natural and what made you do it?
I first decided to go natural back in 2009. I transitioned for two years then cut off the remaining relaxed ends. I still would wear it straight sometimes because I didn’t know how to do natural styles. I big chopped for the second time back in 2014 because of the breakage that I experienced after going to a salon. 4. What was the most challenging thing about going natural? The most challenging thing for me was to accept my hair for what it is. For a long time I compared my hair to other naturals that I see on social media. I thought that my hair was supposed to look a certain way. Natural hair is so versatile and beautiful in every way. 5. What is your weekly regimen? I wash my hair once every two weeks with a sulfate-free shampoo and deep condition with any conditioner that I have at the time. Depending on how busy I am I keep my hair in twists until I am headed out to work or out with my honey. 6. What is your daily morning regimen? In the morning I like to take my time taking out my twists, which is my go to style. I always oil my hands before I take them out. I use coconut oil or olive oil to prevent my hairstyle from frizzing up. 7. What is your daily night time regimen? At night I sleep with a bonnet on. 8. Do you use heat on your hair at all? I use heat on my hair from time to time but not too often. I sometime stretch my hair with a blow dryer and style. I sit under my hooded dryer to intensify the deep conditioner also.
9. Do you braid your hair? If so, how often do you do so in a year?
The last time I braided my hair was last year in 2015. It was braided in a top knot. I wear braids once in a blue moon. 10. Wide-tooth comb or Denman brush? I use both wide tooth combs and a Denman brush to detangle my hair. 11. Is your hair normally loose or in a protective-do? My hair is normally loose. I do protective styles when I am staying in for the day. 12. Have you ever had a hair tragedy? What was it? How did you recover from it? I have had several hair tragedies in my lifetime. One of them was when I had my sew-in cut out of my hair along with my real hair. To recover from it I carried on with my hair regimen as normal. Luckily my hair was thick enough to camouflage the bald spot that was at the top of my head! 13. What's your biggest tip for maintaining healthy or long hair? To maintain healthy hair my biggest tip would be to listen to your hair. If your hair is dry moisturize it. If your hair needs a trim cut it off. Hair has a way of telling us what may be wrong and we must listen. 14. Where can we find you online? (blog, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube etc).

1. What's your name and where are you from?
Felipe Monteiro, I’m from Brazil, but I am living in France. 2. What is your hair type? It’s 4A/B
3. When did you start taking a keen interest in your hair?
It was in 2013. I searched for male Brazilian YouTubers talking about how to care for kinky/curly hair and I didn't find any; so, I created a youtube channel and started to talk about hair for all other men who need help out there. 4. Are there any challenges in being a man that's fanatical about hair? You need to be patient, to care and to ignore what another people say about your amazing hair! 5. What is your weekly regimen? Every week I follow a set routine. I moisturize with a lot of natural oils, and I add volume to it with twist outs, I love to have a lot of volume. 6. What is your daily morning regimen? Normally I put a little natural oil in my hand and massage my scalp to **wake up** my hair. After that I use my hair dryer to add more volume. And that’s it! 7. What is your daily night time regimen? I just tie my hair on top. It’s good to use a pillowcase and satin cap to sleep, but I haven’t started yet! :( 8. Do you use heat on your hair at all? Yes, sometimes to add volume, only. To dry only naturally.
9. Do you braid your hair?
Not yet, because I need to learn. I really want to learn. I love braids! 10. What is your favourite hair tool? I think it is scarves to do an afro puff when I am having a "bad hair day". 11. Have you ever had a hair tragedy? What was it? How did you recover from it? After I started keeping my hair natural, no, and I hope it never happens. haha! 12. What's your biggest tip for maintaining healthy or long hair? Care and care and care. A lot of nutrition, moisturizing and when you see your hair is a bit damaged, reconstruction. I prefer to use natural treatments. 13. Where can we find you online? (blog, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube)

1. What's your name and where are you from?
Hi, my name is Pililo AKA (Pamarow Naturals), I am originally from Zambia but I live in Perth Australia 2. What is your hair type? My Hair type is 4C/B
3. When did you go natural and what made you do it?
I have been natural most of my life. In August 2013, after transitioning from texturized/heat damaged hair, I went completely natural 4. What was the most challenging thing about going natural? I have to say the most challenging thing about going natural especially where I am (Perth Australia) was finding products and tools to use for my natural hair. Although a lot of people are going natural, there isn’t much support or resources here for us 5. What is your weekly regimen? I try to stick to my regimen but I can truly say am a lazy natural! When am not so lazy, I co-wash my hair weekly, Deep condition & or oil rinse my hair after which I go ahead and style it in my African threading or a twist out 6. What is your daily morning regimen? In the morning I try to keep it simple. If my hair feels dry, then I will moisturise and style it using my water and oil mixture. However, if it doesn’t need moisturisation, I simply fluff, style and go. If I am wearing African threading that week then the morning regimen may be as simple as removing my satin scarf brushing my edges and off I go! 7. What is your daily night time regimen? At night, I like to moisturise my hair with just water and an oil. Sometimes I apply some coconut oil to my scalp and massage it. Hair in a high puff/Pineapple, Satin bonnet on and am off to sleep! 8. Do you use heat on your hair at all? No heat for me. When I deep condition my hair I sometimes use my blower on top of my towel when my hair is deep conditioning inside to trap heat, for a more effective deep condition!
9. Do you braid your hair? If so, how often do you do so in a year?
Yes, I braid my hair. I would say half of the year my hair is kinky twists, braids or cornrows. I don’t have a set schedule for braiding though. I usually do it when I want to give my hair a break or when I want to give myself one 10. Wide-tooth comb or Denman brush? Wide tooth comb 11. Is your hair normally loose or in a protective-do? I would say 50/50. I like to try different things on my hair so I let it loose as much as I tuck and pin it 12. Have you ever had a hair tragedy? What was it? How did you recover from it? Tragedy did indeed trike! I was getting frustrated with my natural hair so I started using a lot of heat on it. Later on someone suggested a texturiser and told me my hair would be softer and yet stay natural. Ignorantly, I did as told and lo and behold, half of my length was gone in a few months. See, I wasn’t re-texturizing my hair so as my natural hair grew, the texturized one fell off. That was when I started researching on how to better care for my kinks. And in August 2013 I cut my hair after transitioning. 13. What's your biggest tip for maintaining healthy or long hair? If I had to give three tips I would say: Moisture…Gentle…Patience! For me the topmost however, is GENTLENESS! I find that no matter how much I treat my hair to deep conditions, satin scarfs etc If am rough when dealing with it, it breaks off and length retention would be but a distant thought! My ends also become full of knots and split ends. 14. Where can we find you online? (blog, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube etc).

1. What's your name and where are you from?
I am Patricia Striggles from The Boogie Down Bronx,NY. 2. What is your hair type? My hair is mostly 4b but some sections are 4a.
3. When did you go natural and what made you do it?
I transitioned for one year then big chopped on May 16, 2013. I was at work and just had that feeling of "girl just cut it." So stopped at the local target, brought some Shea Moisture products, hair sheers and a box of blonde dye (big mistake I later learned). 4. What was the most challenging thing about going natural? The hardest part of going natural for me was styling. I am great at doing my own hair but the process took a lot longer now. Dealing with the two textures was hard. Also finding the right products was a trail and error experience. I was receiving subscription boxes and became overloaded with products that I really did not need. I Patricia was a product junkie. All my life I was used to having long hair (mid back length) and there I was with hair that barely passed my ears. It took a toll on my self esteem for a while. I would do my make up everyday to compensate missing a major part of my beauty. I constantly found myself having to deal with negative comment from people who could not understand why I cut my hair and a lot of "advice" on how to grow my hair long. It was annoying. Finally I fell in love my my new found hair and embraced my fro. 5. What is your weekly regimen? Regimen? Ha. I am still trying to find the right one. Currently due to my busy schedule I try to do my hair once a week. I do a twist out and wear the twist in the beginning part of the week (sometimes I wear a head wrap to be fancy). At the end of the week I take out the twist and wear it out for as long as I can. 6. What is your daily morning regimen? Every morning I take down my modified pineapple. It's just two pineapples. One in the front and one in the back. Then I fluff out my hair. I add no products because I do not want product build up. 7. What is your daily night time regimen? At night I just put my hair in the modified pineapple, tie my edges down with a satin scarf and but a bonnet over my curls. If I want to lay my edges I will add a little edge control before tieing the scarf. 8. Do you use heat on your hair at all? Oh heat... How I love the way my hair looks when I use you but hate the possibility of the damage. Whenever there is a special event heat is the 1st things a lot of girls reach for. We feel we need should straighten our hair for the joyus occasion. Only to miss our curly hair in a few days. I was guilty of this but now I am embracing my curls. I try to not use heat. I use it about two or three a year at most. I am trying to cut back to zero or on time.
9. Do you braid your hair? If so, how often do you do so in a year?
I braid my own hair. Once or twice a year I wear poetic justice braids to give myself a break from styling. I love cornrows If I had someone to braid my hair I would let them. I don't really trust salons or like their prices so I just do it myself. 10. Wide-tooth comb or Denman brush? Currently neither. I am team finger detangle. I do love both but I am trying to avoid breakage to retain length. 11. Is your hair normally loose or in a protective-do? It is normally loose. I tend to protective style when I know I will not be able to take maximum care of my hair for a period of time. 12. Have you ever had a hair tragedy? What was it? How did you recover from it? As I stated earlier, I dyed some of my hair blonde when I big chopped. I did a little section in the front. It loosened the curls in that section and looked horrible as it grew out. I ended up dying it black and growing it out. It has finally reached the end of my hair shaft. Another time I decided I wanted a Dominican wash and set. The stylist did a great job. My hair was laid, but little did I know it was also fried. The back of my hair did not revert back well. My 4b curls were now 3b. I was sad. That section is growing out also. Now that I don't really do wash and go's it does not bother me. As you can see the answer to all my hair tragedies is to grow it out. 13. What's your biggest tip for maintaining healthy or long hair? I get asked this a lot. Here are some of my tips..

1. What's your name and where are you from?
My name is Dorcas also known as Curious Curls and I’m of Nigerian descent, born and raised in London, England but currently living in Toronto. 2. What is your hair type? My hair type is a mixture of all the type 4s. Everything from 4a – 4c. The sides of my hair are predominantly 4c, while my crown and back are a mix of 4a/4b.
3. When did you go natural and what made you do it?
My last relaxer was in May 2011 and I did a long term transition for 22 months. I big chopped in February 2013 & did a second big chop in November 2013 and sported a TWA. I went natural because I had been relaxed for so long I had no idea what my natural hair looked like. I was simply curious (thus the name Curious Curls). 4. What was the most challenging thing about going natural? The adjustment in my regimen. I had a pretty solid relaxed hair care regimen and had to re learn how to care for my natural hair. The last time I had been natural my mother was the person who cared for my hair. So it really was the first time in my life I was learning how to handle my own natural hair. 5. What is your weekly regimen? I’ve currently made some tweaks in my regimen as I am trying to achieve maximum growth but overall it is simple. I wash and deep condition (under a hooded dryer) weekly. I finger detangle in the shower and follow up with my leave-in, oil (Jamaican Black Castor Oil) and shea butter to twist. If I’m wearing a wash and go then I used a gel on top of my leave-in and oil instead of the shea butter to twist. I’ve also incorporated Jamaican Black Castor Oil and scalp massages on a weekly basis to stimulate growth. 6. What is your daily morning regimen? I simply fluff and go. If my hair needs a bit of moisture I use a moisturizing spray or hair milk and seal with oil and then put it up in a puff. 7. What is your daily night time regimen? Not much, I don’t retwist, I simply sleep on a satin pillowcase. 8. Do you use heat on your hair at all? When I wear a wash and go I often will diffuse my hair to speed up the process and I have done a blowout. But since my second big chop I’ve never straightened my hair.
9. Do you braid your hair? If so, how often do you do so in a year?
I do braid my hair, usually box braids with extensions. I would say I do so about 4 times a year. Often times when I'm going on a vacation/trip or just need a break from my hair I'll get braids installed. I'm a bit weary of getting braids since my last installation caused a bit of breakage but I do plan on doing it in the future with some precautions during the installation process. 10. Wide-tooth comb or Denman brush? Neither, I opt for my fingers. 11. Is your hair normally loose or in a protective-do? Most of the time it is loose. 12. Have you ever had a hair tragedy? What was it? How did you recover from it? I wouldn’t call it a tragedy but I got a set of box braids that were installed without the stylist caring for my ends. She was rough when installing them so when I took them down I had so many split and rough ends. I had to get a pretty significant trim to remedy the damage which was a bummer. 13. What's your biggest tip for maintaining healthy or long hair? Keep it moisturized, don’t skip your trims and deep condition often. Honestly doing those 3 things is when I see the biggest difference in my hair. 14. Where can we find you online? (blog, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube etc).

1. What's your name and where are you from?
My name is Staci Tyson and I am from Kansas City, MO 2. What is your hair type? My hair falls between 4B and 4C
3. When did you go natural and what made you do it?
I big-chopped on 13 April 2011. My first born daughter inspired me to go natural. At that time she was almost 2yrs old. I decided if I wanted her to embrace her beautiful texture, then I must lead by example so I went in the bathroom and cut all my relaxed hair off! 4. What was the most challenging thing about going natural? Learning to manage my new texture and gaining the understanding that my natural texture was completely different than my relaxed hair. I was on YouTube faithfully looking for natural beauties that had similar textures as mines.I quickly became a product junkie, searching for products that worked best for my hair. 5. What is your weekly regimen? I really don’t have a solid weekly regimen other than making sure my hair is moisturize at all times. However, I do co-wash my hair bi-weekly and I deep condition monthly! 6. What is your daily morning regimen? I start off by moisturizing my hair with water and oil ( evoo, coconut oil or Carol’s daughter Lisa’s Hair Elixir), I then fluff, take down twist, and or pin up my hair. It really depends on the style I am rocking! 7. What is your daily night time regimen? I always moisturize my hair before bed. I use a hair lotion or one of my favorite oils and a spritz of water. I try not to ever go to bed with my hair completely out, that's just asking for a detangling fight. I twist my hair into about ten twist or I will bun it up, ensuring my ends are covered then I finish off with a satin bonnet. 8. Do you use heat on your hair at all? Yes, I straighten my hair once a year to check my length and the condition of my ends. If needed I take this opportunity to trim my ends.
9. Do you braid your hair? If so, how often do you do so in a year?
Yes I braid my hair, maybe a couple of times a year. I really like Box-braids and Marley twists. 10. Wide-tooth comb or Denman brush? Wide-tooth comb 11. Is your hair normally loose or in a protective-do? Ummm I’m going say 50/50 I love to wear my hair out but I am a sucker for protective styles too. ex: Goddess twist/braids, buns, mini twist, and pin ups! 12. Have you ever had a hair tragedy? What was it? How did you recover from it? I haven’t had any hair tragedies with my natural hair so far. Thank God!! But I’ve had a gang of mishaps with my relaxed hair! Going natural is definitely one of the best decisions I’ve ever made for myself! 13. What's your biggest tip for maintaining healthy or long hair? My biggest tip is to love your hair and embrace every stage! If you take the time to put love in your hair, it will grow. Be patience and enjoy the journey. Remember to hydrate your kinks and curls. The process is very similar to taking care of a plant! LOL :) 14. Where can we find you online? (blog, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube etc).

1. What's your name and where are you from?
Hey everyone! My name is Stephanie and I currently live in Chicago, lL, and I would call myself a true naturalista at heart! 2. What is your hair type? I have a variety of hair textures throughout my hair. I have mostly coarse to thick hair with a few fine textures as well. I am a mixture of 3c, 4a, and 4b hair types.
3. When did you go natural and what made you do it?
Ever since I was younger, my hair has always been faithfully relaxed. However, I have always been amazed by the versatility of natural hair. My natural hair journey began in 2013 while I was away at college. Due to the long distance from home, I wasn't able to get my hair relaxed, or even get it done as frequently as I would have preferred. With the combination of my love for natural hairstyles and the fact I was away from home, I decided to transition back to my natural roots. Click here to see a video of the natural hair journey. 4. What was the most challenging thing about going natural? The most challenging part of my hair journey was when I did the "mini chop"; my friends' and families' reactions were all over the place. Some were excited for me, while others were asking me why on earth did I cut my hair! My mom for example was all for the new hair cut, but since I decided to flat iron my hair as soon as I had cut my hair, she was under the impression that I would keep it short, and go back to getting it relaxed. Once I told her that I will be keeping it natural, she was a bit hesitant and tried to convince me to take care of my hair and keep up with getting relaxers. Although I was receiving negative feedback about my decision to go natural, this was something I needed to do for myself and no one's opinion was going to change my mind. Now that I have been on my natural hair journey for over a year now. Both my friends and family or completely supportive of my hair journey. 5. What is your weekly regimen? My weekly regimen consist of washing my hair once a week, and styling it that same day. I moisturize my hair using the L.O.C method and style my hair either into a puff , plaits or two strand twist. Click here to see an explanation of what the L.O.C. method and a demo. 6. What is your daily morning regimen? My morning regimen is very simple. I simply take off my satin bonnet or just proceed to pick out my hair to get the desired shape I am going for, and I am good to go. 7. What is your daily night time regimen? My night routine varies:
I always sleep with a satin bonnet, or satin pillow case. I choose the pillow case over the satin bonnet on days where I want to preserve my hairstyle as much as possible , and not squish the style, which sometimes happens when I sleep with the bonnet. 8. Do you use heat on your hair at all? Yes I do, but not often. I apply a flat iron to my hair 1-2 times a year I use a blow dryer ( low-medium heat) 2-4 times a year Click here to see various techniques I use to straighten my natural hair.
9. Do you braid your hair? If so, how often do you do so in a year?
I typically do not braid my hair, but I am trying to do more protective styles like crochet braids, and marley twists. 10. Wide-tooth comb or Denman brush? I typically stick to using a wide-tooth comb when detangling my hair when my hair is both dry and wet, and I use a Denman if needed on dry hair usually to just put my hair into a puff. 11. Is your hair normally loose or in a protective-do? My hair is usually styled into a puff. I just love how quick and easy it is and can be styled in various ways. Click the links to see how I style my puffs ( 2 ways) https://youtu.be/P2P1spOELpw https://youtu.be/lu4pDDa-7Eo 12. Have you ever had a hair tragedy? What was it? How did you recover from it? I have suffered from very mild heat damage, but since I know the overall health of my hair is better than the length of my hair I simply cut it off. That's the good thing about healthy hair, it will grow back. 13. What's your biggest tip for maintaining healthy or long hair? The number one thing that I make sure to do on a consistent basis that I see has really helped the overall health of my hair, is to make sure to deep condition my hair for at least 30 minutes weekly. In addition, I try to only style my hair once a week and moisturize using the L.O.C. method every 3-4 days which prevents over manipulation to my hair. This routine allows my hair to retain moisture and prevents unnecessary breakage. 14. Where can we find you online? (blog, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube etc).

3. When did you go natural and what made you do it?
I big chopped in 2013 after badly damaging my hair from relaxers and constantly coloring my hair. 4. What was the most challenging thing about going natural? The most challenging thing was finding styles for short hair. 5. What is your weekly regimen? I wash my hair every 2 weeks, and do a twist/braid out to last the entire week. Again, moisturizing daily. 6. What is your daily morning regimen? I usually use a moisturizer/oil and fluff out my curls and make a large puff on top of my head. 7. What is your daily night time regimen? I moisturize my scalp/hair and create a pineapple to sleep on. Then cover with a satin scarf/bonnet. 8. Do you use heat on your hair at all? Very rarely, I may straighten or blow out my hair to stretch or trim my ends.

I tend to wear my hair loose. 12. Have you ever had a hair tragedy? What was it? How did you recover from it? When I had relaxed hair, I constantly colored and cut my hair and eventually my hair started breaking off, so I big chopped and went natural. 13. What's your biggest tip for maintaining healthy or long hair? Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! And stay away from heat as much as you can. 14. Where can we find you online? 1. What's your name and where are you from?
My name is Bria Larine from Detroit, MI 2. What is your hair type? 4A/4B
3. When did you go natural and what made you do it?
I went natural June 1st, 2013. The reason I went natural is when I got mt hair dyed blond, I noticed my hair breaking off. I really had no other option but to go natural or I could risk my hair possibly falling out... I've been obsessed with natural hair ever since! 4. What was the most challenging thing about going natural? Transitioning from heat damage, color damage or any type of damage. Its such a huge separation between your natural curls and the dead ends. I couldn't do a twistout without using perm rods until I was natural from about 6/7 months. 5. What is your weekly regimen? I co wash with an conditioner in the middle of the weeks, either Wednesday or Thursday and style in my usual twistout, or if I'm feeling spontaneous I'll do another type of style. Sunday is my major wash day. I pre-poo with conditioner or oil (depending on what i have), co wash with a cleansing conditioner, deep condition for about an hour and style. 6. What is your daily morning regimen? Mainly untwisting, fluffing. I don't do much in the morning. If I'm having a bad hair day, I style my hair in a puff as my go to style. 7. What is your daily night time regimen? I spritz my hair with my water/glycerin/leave-in conditioner mix, use product of my choice and twist my hair for the night. For additional moisture i seal my hair with my Shea butter mix. I usually do larger twist because I'm mainly focusing on keeping my hair moisturized. I like my hair fluffy, so definition isn't a big deal to me. 8. Do you use heat on your hair at all? I've used heat twice since I have been natural, and honestly I don't like the look if straight hair on myself. I feel that it take away my "look".
9. Do you braid your hair? If so, how often do you do so in a year?
As in a braid/twist out? Almost everyday. If we are talking braids as in a protective style, I've had box braids once about 2 years ago. I might get them again soon, but I've been contemplating. 10. Wide-tooth comb or Denman brush? I use both. I used my wide tooth comb if my hair is a mess to get out the majority of the kinks, if i just need to lightly detangle i use my Denman brush. 11. Is your hair normally loose or in a protective-do? My hair is loose 90% of the year, if not more. I need my fro, it's apart of me. If I have my hair in a protective style i feel awkward. 12. Have you ever had a hair tragedy? What was it? How did you recover from it? Yes! My hair was already struggling because my colored ends were starting to lose it curl and become limp. I then decided to do wand curls and the heat made my curls even more limp. I eventually had to cut myself some bangs because I couldn't take the inconsistent curls. 13. What's your biggest tip for maintaining healthy or long hair? Moisturize, and seal! Use water to keep your hair moisturize and use a oil to seal that moisture in. Also, deep conditioning weekly really helps. You might not notice a instant change, but over time you'll be happy with the results. 14. Where can we find you online? Yes, I do braid my hair when I am doing protective styles. Therefore, you can say as often everyday because with or without the protective style I like to keep my hair hydrated and moisturized. I find that when it is in braids it locks all the goodness in. 10. Wide-tooth comb or Denman brush? Wide-tooth comb always! That is my lifesaver. 11. Is your hair normally loose or in a protective-do? I can actually say I do both; I try not to leave my protective styles in for too long. So, I find the balance no doing one or the other for too long. 12. Have you ever had a hair tragedy? What was it? How did you recover from it? Hair tragedy, no, but I have caused a lot of damage to my hair by experimenting with bleach/color. 13. What's your biggest tip for maintaining healthy or long hair? Ladies and Gentlemen, please hydrate your beautiful hair. Do not me afraid to get that spray bottle, add a little conditioner in there, and spray away. 14. Where can we find you online? (blog, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube etc).
